Run with patience the race that is set before you! In a tennis-life analogy, I have noticed many people make "unforced errors," and have made many myself. What is a Life Unforced Error (LUE), and why do they happen?
I define a LUE as you might expect, given the tennis analogy... The volley is going along just fine and dandy - no excitement, no drama, just a baseline-to-baseline back-and-forth. Then, all of a sudden, (and I'm imagining now that it's possibly from one player's sense of boredom?) one player rears back and -
hits it right into the net. Sometimes life is like this. It's important to keep the volley going...you may get the chance to make some miraculous save, yes. But the better likelihood is that the volley will just keep going and going. I like one of Chris Rock's quotes from the movie "I Love My Wife:"
"Lots of people like to use the phrase 'life is short.' They tell you that someday, you're gonna get hit by a Mack Truck so you better live it up. Well, I'm here to tell you: Life Ain't Short. Life is LONG, and HARD. So you Better Pay Attention."
Just keep running.

i have a bulging disc between C5-C6 (neck), result of an injury in January of this year. I am determining a course of action with a sports medicine guy (with whom I am not impressed), a chiropractor, and anyone else willing to weigh in on the issue. I have let it slow me down over the past few weeks, and am trying to determine if that's helping or hindering. So far, I'm just frustrated.
Anyone have any thoughts? I'm providing the MRI image so you can make a thorough diagnosis.
Much love!
A friend of mine just did something called the birthday be fit challenge. What a cool idea! I think I'll try to do this every year from now on and inspire others to do so. Check it out at www.bfitbday.com

Trying to start getting serious for Richmond. My Saturday goal was to do 18 alternating 2 miles at 7:30 and 1/2 mile at 7:45. Ended up doing 17, averaging 7:30 overall. I need to work on my pacing so I'm not doing 7:12s!! I was right on the edge of bonking. Then for cross-training I repaired our deck, took down a couple trees, took Christian to the pool and prepped for Sunday School.
Uggh! Its been hot, and running at 3:00 when its 105 and 70% humidity is a tough sell. Its been slow, but as the weather changes I think my pace will too. Signed up for a super short sprint tri in October, Phoenix Marathon in January. Those are the targets as I see them today. Think there are some olympic distance races that I am going to see if I can swing, but for now content to be fit. Hope all is well.
MUCH LOVE
Geoff
