Just a wee bit of time until the big B. March will hold a little cram session for me, as I enter the home stretch. The new blog interface seems to be working out - seems to be a bit more sustainable, perhaps as a reminder that we ALL need to be more sustainable!
Marria has completed her half-marathon as of yesterday. My Wife. The Runner. She's officially addicted, and she's infecting everyone around her. At this rate, she'll be qualifying for Boston before BTBB!
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Happy training!
Carm, Casey, EagleShan - i know, i know. work to do. Casey, i guess i'm hoping the positive attitude that carmen refers to is what's going to get me that BQ@B...
but just in case...
March 1, ran 13.
March 2, played 30 min hoops.
March 3, played 75 min hoops.
May i make excuses for just a moment? work has been busy. there are signs of light at the end of the tunnel. back to focusing on more important things...
daddy loves to run. and now, mama loves to run too - marria finished her first half-marathon yesterday in 2:24:something, or as i like to call it, "2 hours and change." The bug is infectious...
praying for all of your slacker-natures,
dyron
played 45 minutes hoops. back on the road today...
Cross training is fine, but I've never heard of 30-75 minutes of basketball translating into a sub 3:10 marathon. Seems to me somebody likes basketball better than running. Best of luck, I say. :)
I'm still feeling my 20 from Saturday. I can't remember the last time I ran in a wind like we had that day. Speedwork today, 10 this Saturday followed by half-marathon course on Sunday with Becky. Then 20 again the following week.
I agree, Casey. Do you think basketball may even be an avoidant behavior? Ha Ha. Only kidding--what I wouldn't do for some cross training that doesn't involve a bike or a lap pool! I can't wait until June when I can do the stairmaster or the centaur . . . weird to anticipate. I do, however, play scads of games of kickball, dodgeball, and four square every week. Signed up for the Charlottesville half with Lauren 4/19 or something.
ran 6,
ran 7,
hiked 6,
ran 5,
ran 6 (intervals - 6x400 @:75),
biked 10,
biked 20 and ran 6,
swam 3200 and played 18.
feeling good.
Yeah, I hope you're feeling good. Let's see how you feel when you actually start training for Boston :)
Good, Shannon. Becky & I will see you there. She's doing the 1/2 and I'm doing the whole thing.
Ran 20 Saturday to cap off a 52-mile week.
having what some call a "mouse in the knee." not painful, just lots of moving around inside. a little hesitant, but still on schedule. opinions on those knee band things? i tried one on and ran around the store with and without. couldn't feel a significant difference . . . turned 28, ran 12. can you believe i've still got it?
Shannon, I haven't used those little knee straps, just the big sleeve, which I think helped.
You know the half marathon starts at 6:30? Let Becky & me know if you & Lauren need a place to stay Friday night. If you can share a room and bed, you're more than welcome to stay with us.
Key word = breast. hmmm. Any guesses what that has to do with running?
Also...ran 21 Saturday, average 7:28. Still felt like I had gas in the tank when I finished. Now, on to the hard work of tapering!! I plan to do a week's worth of it in St. John. I think we'd previously established that snorkeling is cross-training.
Thanks for the knee advice. I wish we had discussed C'ville earlier. We ended up getting a room at Hampton Suites (walking distance to start/finish). A plus about the 6:30 start is that we'll be able to go back and use the hot tub before checkout. Next time we'll plan ahead more and take you up on your hospitality! I am a GREAT taperer, but won't for this race because I'm still training for my "A" race in June. I have to fit a bike in on Sat. when I get home :-( Your vacation should definitely help you out with some rest days. Have fun! D-what have you been up to since 3/16 besides not blogging? Whose smack talk forum is this?!?!
